1960s
Once upon a time you
dressed so fine,
You threw the bums
a dime in your prime,
didn’t you?
People’d call, say,
“Beware doll,
you’re bound to fall.”
You thought they were
all kiddin’ you.
You used to laugh
about everybody that
was hangin’ out.
Now you don’t
talk so loud.
Now you don’t
seem so proud
about having to be
scrounging for
your next meal.
How does it feel?
dressed so fine,
You threw the bums
a dime in your prime,
didn’t you?
People’d call, say,
“Beware doll,
you’re bound to fall.”
You thought they were
all kiddin’ you.
You used to laugh
about everybody that
was hangin’ out.
Now you don’t
talk so loud.
Now you don’t
seem so proud
about having to be
scrounging for
your next meal.
How does it feel?
